Fellow Wesleyans,
A number of Wesleyan professors and graduate students have begun
an internet discussion group, entitled "Wesleyans in Theological
Dialogue" (WTD).
Our GOALS are twofold.  First, we want to use the internet to
stimulate dialogue among Wesleyan scholars engaged in different aspects of
theological study.  Second, we would like to provide a format in which
theological scholars in the Wesleyan tradition can dialogue about issues
with other scholars who share their theological orientation.
Our MEMBERSHIP, which includes Nazarenes, United Methodists, Free
Methodists, Salvation Army officers, Wesleyans, Episcopalians, British
Methodists, Church of God (Anderson, IN) people, and Anglicans, is
composed of persons throughout the English speaking world (the US, Canada,
Australia, and the UK) who are either advocates of or sympathetic to a
Wesleyan/holiness understanding of the Christian faith.
In order to maintain the desired environment, membership is
limited to people who meet two requirements.  First, potential members
must either hold or be currently working on a doctorate.  Undergraduates
and Masters level students are not allowed into membership.  Second,
potential members should regard themselves either as scholars of Wesley
and/or Wesleyanism or as scholars who work from a consciously Wesleyan
theological orientation.
The FORMAT is simple.  Members can send messages to a listserv
address and those messages will be forwarded to the other members of the
group.
The INVESTMENT is minimal.  You may merely read the messages sent
by others and post nothing for yourself.  Or you may--and are encouraged
to--post two different types of messages to the group.  First, we will
always welcome posting of questions and comments relevant to Wesleyanism.
Second, we also encourage posts which discuss what you are currently
reading or thinking about.  (It is always nice to know what scholars in
other areas are talking about.)
The REWARDS are yet to be seen.
If you are interested, please respond to the message which will
immediately follow this message.

You may forward this to any interested party and have him or her return
it to me at tphillip@post.smu.edu
